Umbria, the land of Saints, is undoubtedly the tranquil green heart of Italy. It is considered one of the most sacred regions of Italy, perhaps because many Saints such as Saint Francis of Assisi were born here. This neighbouring region to Tuscany has an abundance of small medieval hilltop villages, rich in history and tradition. Never-ending views across gently rolling green pastures are not uncommon. It is an ideal county in which to host a quieter and more intimate wedding celebration. Choose a wedding reception in an elegant castle, historic palace or typical Umbrian country farmhouse restaurant. Whichever venue you prefer, fine Umbrian cuisine has a well-established 600 years old tradition of offering some of the best food in Italy.

Umbria's capital, Perugia, is one of Italy’s most special medieval towns. Its historical architecture forms an important part of Italian art heritage. Perugia’s Town Hall is a beautifully presented building entirely decorated with antique wooden panels and frescoes. One can hold a wedding reception on a panoramic terrace of one of the city’s oldest hotels. To host a larger number of guests, perhaps a luxurious country hotel retreat or castle steeped in history commanding astounding valley views.

Umbria's most frequently visited town is Assisi, made famous because of the life lived here by St Francis. Pristinely kept, it has a magnificently restored Cathedral and a wealth of sacred art. The special wedding hall is on the first floor of a wonderful old palace overlooking the town’s main square. The room has gothic vaulted ceilings decorated with frescoes. Assisi is literally perched on a hillside with deep valley views of typical rural Umbria.
Other Umbria towns where we can organise your Italian wedding are Todi and Spoleto.
