| The Montegrossi estate is situated along a short unsurfaced private road and enjoys beautiful views onto the surrounding countryside of vineyards and olive groves. Well detached from the main farmhouse, but near to the pool, is the superb barn, 'Il Fienile’. This offers luxurious and spacious accommodation for 2 persons and is a perfect honeymoon retreat. Il Fienile can be rented separately, or, by a larger group, together with the main farmhouse that features on page 25. The two properties share the pool. The English-speaking owners live on a separate estate next door.
Most of the windows of Il Fienile enjoy spectacular views onto the surrounding countryside. All the rooms retain the original characteristic oak beams and terracotta flooring. The furnishings are almost entirely a mixture of antique, or, reproduction antique.

| The Villa Montegrossi estate is situated in the surrounding area of the famous abbey of Badia a Coltibuono in Chianti (2km). Within the grounds of the abbey is a wonderful Michelin Guide restaurant where one can dine al fresco in the summer months and listen to live classical music. The nearest hamlets are those of Montegrossi, Montegonzi and La Forra, which have one or two restaurants. Other nearby towns include Gaiole (3km) and Radda (7km), two pretty medieval towns. Florence is approximately 55km and Siena 30km. |
