| Castello Macchiavelli is an enchanting hilltop castle 15km south of Florence surrounded by beautiful Chianti vineyard views. Today, the castle still belongs to decendants of Macchiavelli, a famous Italian writer and philosopher. Next to the castle are a few farmhouses offering elegant self catering accommodation with immense character including original terracotta floors, wooden beams and ornate wrought iron or wooden bed-frames. |

| The nearest village to the castle is Bargino, 2km, where there is a shop and highly recommended fish restaurant. San Casciano (4km) and Mercatale (5km) have further restaurants. Greve (13km), Chianti’s capital town, can be reached easily by country road from the castle. |
